Jaguar E-Type Zero – electrifying beauty

The most beautiful electric car in the world

No doubt that the E-type is one of the most beautiful things man has ever made but since our evolution from petrol only cars to electric and hybrid options, Jaguar thought they’ed  give us an electric E-type to go with the modern world.

The headlights still have the classic E-type look but have been updated to LEDs which help with efficiency.

The instrument cluster has been given an updated modern look and it fits so well with the classic beauty icon. The E-type Zero has a ‘real world’ range of 170 miles, helped by its low weight and excellent classic aerodynamics. It uses a 40kWh battery, which can be recharged from home overnight. The new electric powertrain which has components derived from the new I-PACE could be used in any of the other Jaguars from that era including the E-type, XK120, Mk2 and XJ6. Jaguar also claim that the cars structure has not changed so it’s still in its original dynamic form.

  • It’s quicker than an original E-type: 0-100km/h (62mph) takes only 5.5sec
  • Power train 220Kw is roughly the same size as the original 6 cylinder
  • Total weight is 46kg lower than the original E-type.
  • Jaguar also claim that the conventional engine can be re installed at any point.

Jaguar say that this experiment is to ”future proof” the classic car experience, and I must say this is a great start.

Will we be seeing other car manufacturers update their classics?
