The huge USA based company has had its operating license revoked in the capital.

The decision was made today with the backing of Sadiq Khan’s Transport for London and the trade body for the capital’s black-cab drivers, who have always been against the ride-hailing company.

Within hours the shocking decision was greatly criticised by Ubers 40,000 drivers and its 3.5 million users  in the capital and a petition was immediately created for anyone who does not agree with outcome and will be handed to the mayor of London. Mr Khan says that Uber were not ”playing by the rules” and his decision is also greatly supported by drivers and other politicians who claim that they are not treated fairly and are exploited. In London, Uber has faced a lot of criticism from unions and black cab drivers. Lawmakers claim that their safety record was poor and they failed to report serious crimes.

Uber’s current licence will run until 3oth September but the tech giant vows to challenge the decision as soon as possible, It has 21 days to appeal against TfL’s decision and can continue to operate while any appeals are ongoing.

Let us know what you think of this decision.
